Left to Right: Fran Drescher, Sarah Palin
By Duane Wells
If in choosing Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate, Republican nominee John McCain was hoping for a game-changer in his race against Barack Obama, it looks like he got one. Across the country, Palin has had tongues wagging all week. Also in the news, Fran Drescher comes out strong for marriage equality; Florida's anti-gay amendment faces flagging support and the fight for GLBT rights presses forward in Australia and France.

Loud, Proud and Republican
Op-Ed
By Marc Destito
I skipped the Republican National Convention this year and watched from home, through the perverted lens of our news media. Slamming Fred Thompson? Expected. Joe Lieberman? Vicious! Criticizing Sarah Palin because her hometown has more meth labs in 2008 than in 2003? By that logic, attack Obama, because 125 people were killed in Chicago this summer, double the death toll in Iraq.

Men I've Had: Your Picture Gets Mine
By Alex Fergusen
I had not been to an online hook up site in about five months. But much like Days of Our Lives, you can be away for a year or two and come back and pick up on the same people and same storylines. Same headless torso shots. Same boys taking pics of themselves in the mirror. And same guys 'in a relationship' with a half dozen shirtless photos.

Inner Vision: One Nation Under a Groove
By Lisa B. Valentino
One Nation Under a Groove… Cool concept, huh? I wish I’d thought of it first. But any fan of classic R&B will easily recognize it as the musical manifesto of George Clinton, one of the true Masters of Funk. George broke it down with bass-pumpin’ back-beats. Martin Luther King, Jr. immortalized it in his legendary 'I Have a Dream' address 45 years ago. And Barack Obama spoke of it as a 'stirring in our nation' last week during the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
